The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, an international apostolic Congregation, believe that the Holy Family of Nazareth reveals to them the profound reality that God is present in the most simple and ordinary experiences of human life. In 1957 in response to an invitation by the Polish clergy and Polish community, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth went to serve the people in Western Australia.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is a suffragan Latin Rite diocese of the Archdiocese of Sydney, established in 1847, initially as the Diocese of Maitland and changed to the current name in 1995. The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth were invited to the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle to support children and their families through the Catholic Schools Office (CSO).

Blessed Frances Siedliska opened the first convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Rome in 1875. Frances spent her life serving the community and inspiring others to support families by providing education, spiritual guidance, health, aged and child care. The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth are dedicated to continuing this mission in Australia. They serve in Good Shepherd Parish, Plumpton and a vibrant Catholic parish with 13,000 Catholics.

Holy Family Polish Ethnic School

The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth came to Marayong in 1954 taking a central role in caring for Polish migrant families displaced by the Second World War. With the help of the Polish chaplains and the Polish community, their initial focus was the care of the children in the Home for Children and the teaching of the Polish language, history and culture at the Saturday Polish School.

Site is owned and operated by the local diocese. 1995-2006 A Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth was appointed as pastoral care and family liaison worker at Good Shepherd Primary School assisting students, parents and staff in a pastoral role which was diverse and adaptable to the needs.
