The National Redress Scheme is for people who were sexually abused when they were a child at an institution.

An institution could be a school, church, mission, orphanage, foster care, hospital, detention centre or a sporting club.

The sexual abuse could have happened at the institution.

Or, it could have happened during an activity that was organised by the institution, such as a swimming lesson.

If you apply to the National Redress Scheme and get a redress offer, it can include a payment, free and confidential counselling, and an apology from an institution.

You can apply to the National Redress Scheme by filling in a paper form, or an online form through myGov.

You can ask someone you trust or a Redress Support Service to help you apply.

Redress Support Services are for people with disability who would like help to apply to the National Redress Scheme.

To find out more about your options, or to connect with Redress Support Services, call 1800 737 377 from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
