After you send us your application, we’ll contact you to talk about the next steps.

Then, we gather information from the institutions you identified in your application.

An Independent Decision Maker then reviews all the information and decides the outcome.

Independent Decision Makers are highly experienced, respected people from a range of backgrounds who are not connected to institutions.

It can take 12 months or longer to process an application depending on a person's circumstances.

Applications from people who are very ill or elderly can be processed faster.

The National Redress Scheme will contact you to tell you whether you are eligible for an offer of redress.

If you don't agree with the outcome, you can ask for a review from a different Independent Decision Maker.

To find out more about your options or to connect with Redress Support Services call 1800 737 377 from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
